Mrunal Thakur recently revealed the story behind securing her role in Kumkum Bhagya. She credited Imtiaz Ali's film Jab We Met for inspiration.

Mrunal Thakur has undoubtedly carved her space in the film industry. However, she first gained widespread recognition with the television series Kumkum Bhagya. Recently, Mrunal Thakur shared an intriguing story about how she landed her role in the popular TV series. In a candid revelation, she credited Kareena Kapoor Khan’s iconic character, Geet, from Imtiaz Ali’s film Jab We Met as her inspiration for success.

During an interview with Humans of Bombay, Mrunal shared, “Geet is a cult. Geet has played such an integral part in shaping who I am because every time I make a decision, I think as Geet. That’s what Imtiaz sir has done to me. I am so grateful to Imtiaz sir as because of him I think I’m in this industry.”

She further mentioned, “If I wouldn’t have watched Geet if I wouldn’t have watched Jab We Met, I must have not considered this as my career. It’s just so overwhelming. It’s magical.”

Mrunal also opened up about various aspects of her career and personal life during the interview. From her decision to quit the show to her experience in the realm of cinema, the conversation offered fans a rare glimpse into the life of the actress.

Kumkum Bhagya has been a favourite on Indian TV for over a decade. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the show premiered in 2014 and is still entertaining viewers with its storyline. The show started with Mrunal Thakur, Sriti Jha and Shabir Ahluwalia as the main characters. After a leap in the plot, Mugdha Chaphekar and Krishna Kaul took over. Now, Rachi Sharma and Abrar Qazi lead the show.

On the professional front, Mrunal has a stunning lineup of projects under her kitty. She will be gracing the screen in director Navjot Gulati and Vipasha Arvind’s upcoming thriller film Pooja Meri Jaan. The film also features Humar Qureshi and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.
