Shahid Kapoor is set to team up once again with director Vishal Bhardwaj for an upcoming film, with Triptii Dimri joining as the female lead. As fans eagerly await this untitled thriller, reports have emerged that Shahid has already started rigorous preparation to step into the role of gangster Hussain Ustara.
A recent report by Mid-day suggests that Shahid Kapoor will be portraying a don inspired by the real-life figure Hussain Ustara in a political thriller. The report highlights that the actor has commenced intensive combat training to prepare for the action sequences in the film.
According to a source quoted in the report, director Vishal Bhardwaj is guiding Shahid through the complexities of the character. “The gangster was a layered personality, defined by his ruthless exterior but driven by personal codes of loyalty and honor,” shared the source.
Regarding Triptii Dimri’s role, the source revealed that her character embarks on a journey of revenge. The source further added that she has also begun her individual preparations and is expected to start joint sessions with Shahid soon.
The announcement of the untitled film was made in September, during which Vishal Bhardwaj shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. He expressed his joy about reuniting with producer Sajid Nadiadwala and actor Shahid Kapoor, while also welcoming Triptii Dimri to the team.
Vishal’s note read, “I’m thrilled to collaborate once again with the incredible Sajid Nadiadwala, one of the finest producers and a dear friend, and the gifted @shahidkapoor, my trusted talisman. What a delight to have @tripti_dimri add her magic to this dream team!”
Earlier, Pinkvilla had reported that Sajid Nadiadwala is reuniting the successful duo of Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor for a high-octane action film.
A source familiar with the project stated, “Shahid has utmost respect for Vishal and Sajid, and he was on board the film the minute he heard the narration. This would be Shahid’s next film to go on floors.” The source also mentioned that the movie will feature extensive shoots in India and the US, with the makers planning to create six major action set pieces.
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for his next film Deva. Pooja Hegde will join him in a lead role in the film. The excitement reached new heights when Shahid announced the release date in a recent post, revealing that Deva is set to hit theatres on February 14, 2025.
