And as the film continues to do wonders at the box office in India and abroad, actor Shahid Kapoor says that there were a lot of things that have been missed out during the release of this film.

After 5 modifications and a title change, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat finally made its way to theatres on January 26. And as the film continues to do wonders at the box office in India and abroad, actor Shahid Kapoor says that there were a lot of things that have been missed out during the release of this film.

"We had to make a lot of sacrifices, we had to learn to control our emotions, we had to learn to be diplomatic and politically correct. We had to learn to keep our very strong emotions inside for a year and a half because there were so much of controversy on the film that wasn't even allowed to show itself," the actor said while addressing a press conference at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018.

He added that now the Padmaavat team feels vindicated with the kind of love their film is receiving. "I was very nervous about the film because my role was very different, log jaante nahi the mai kya kar raha hu (people didn't know what I was doing). But the kind of love we've received for the film feels like the hard work we'd put in for 1.5 years and the wait has finally paid off. It's more than I expected and I'm proud of the whole team and thankful to those who had gone out to watch the film."

Mira, who made her runway debut at Anita Dongre's show on day 1 of the 5-day fashion extravaganza, was all praises for her husband when asked about her reaction to the film. "I think the audience has already judged the movie, it's beautiful and it's a visual treat. Shahid has given his career-best performance."

She pointed out that it's essential for one's skills to shine through when there isn't much for a character to bank on. "It's very difficult to play a character when you don't have a support of many works. That's when your acting talent and acting skill must shine through and I think he has done that with so much ease. You can see that on screen," Mira said.

On being asked about how Shahid credits her for all his successes, Mira quickly responded saying, "I think the credit goes to nobody else but him. Because the amount of efforts that he puts in and the calibre of actor that he is, no one can take away from that."

"As a wife, I just want to support everything he does and more than that, I think we're just very good friends, we're partners, so everything happens together," she added.

What's your reaction?
