Sobhita Dhulipala is now engaged to Naga Chaitanya! The two actors exchanged rings on Thursday morning, August 8. Their fans are happy at the couple finally making their relationship official after much speculation. They now eagerly wait for Chay and Sobhita to tie the knot. Last year, in an exclusive chat with News18, she split the beans on how she wanted her big day to look.
“All I know is that I want a lot of Telugu-ness to be in it. I’m from Andhra Pradesh. So, I’m quite attached to that culture” Sobhita told News18. “Growing up, I’ve seen my cousins have weddings with those kinds of rituals and cultural nuances. I would like these things to be a part of my wedding too. I like that sense of traditionality. That aside, I don’t know if I want it to be big and grand or intimate and close-knit,” she added.
Sobhita said that for her, weddings are largely an ‘overwhelming’ experience laced with anxiousness. Recalling her sister’s wedding in February 2023, she said, “We had family friends, relatives, neighbours and well-wishers to give their regards. You know that you’re going to enter a new phase of your life and it will hopefully be beautiful. But that shift and shedding of one layer brought so much of anxiety.” She added, “On the surface, you’ve to be pleasant because they all mean well but there are so many layers and emotions you go through. At weddings, the atmosphere is so charged and high on energy. It took me a while to actually process it because it was a blur and very hectic.”
Meanwhile, hours after Sobhita and Chay’s engagement, superstar Nagarjuna took to his X handle to share the first official photos of the couple. He congratulated the couple and welcomed Sobhita to the family.
“We are delighted to announce the engagement of our son, Naga Chaitanya, to Sobhita Dhulipala, which took place this morning at 9:42 a.m.!! We are overjoyed to welcome her into our family. Congratulations to the happy couple! Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness. God bless!”❤️ 8.8.8 A beginning of infinite love❤️,” Nagarjuna wrote.
Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala’s dating rumours had been making headlines for a long time. It all started in May last year when they were first spotted together in Hyderabad, Naga Chaitanya’s hometown where Sobhita was promoting her film, Major. Reports suggested that the actress, who was in the city for film promotions, celebrated her birthday with Naga and some friends.
Naga Chaitanya was previously married to Samantha Ruth Prabhu. They dated for a few years before tying the knot in 2017. However, the two announced their separation in October 2021 i.e. after four years of their marriage. Back then, they had issued a statement asking fans and followers for privacy as they ‘move on’.
