Why Piyush Mishra Stopped Singing His Popular Song Husna
Husna was based on the love story of an Indian boy and a Pakistan girl after partition.

Lyricist, singer and actor Piyush Mishra has created several super hit songs, like Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh in Black Friday (2004), Aarambh Hai Prachand in Gulaal (2009), and Ik Bagal in Gangs of Wasseypur: Part 1 (2012), to name a few. Apart from this, one of his most popular songs is Husna, which he made for MTV Coke Studio in 2012. The song was based on the love story of an Indian boy and a Pakistani girl. Though the song was not used in any film, it gained huge popularity, and in fact, the singer himself has sung it many times on stage and in Coke Studio. But now the singer himself has banned this song and stopped singing it at any event. Today, let’s take a look at the reason behind it.

According to reports, the story of making this song starts with a play, Husna. It is based on a unique love story, which begins before the partition of India and Pakistan. There is a girl named Husna, who is in love with a boy named Javed. Both the lovers were engrossed in love, and the country was divided.

Due to partition, Husna had to go to Pakistan, and Javed remained here in India. The wheel of time turned after many years when a friend of Javed returned to India from Pakistan. When Javed asked that friend about Husna’s condition, he told him that Husna was still living in the memories of his love and that she had not settled. Javed’s world was shaken after hearing this.

Javed established a family in India. After becoming the father of children, when Javed heard about Husna’s condition, he wrote a letter. Piyush Mishra put this letter into the words of songs. This is the first song in the history of songs whose hook (the opening line) starts with the address.

These lyrics of the song tell the story of the first words written on the letter, the addressee. After this, the song moves ahead and starts singing deep melodies of separation. When Piyush Mishra sang this song for the first time, the eyes of the listeners were filled with tears. When Piyush Mishra sang this song with Coke Studio 11 years ago, there was a flood of views.

Even today, more than 15 million people have listened to this song. Along with this, Piyush Mishra also sang this song dozens of times on stage and awakened the chords of love instead of enmity in the hearts of the listeners. But in the year 2019, one event changed the fate of this song.

In 2019, Pakistani terrorists attacked Pulwama, and 40 soldiers were martyred. Piyush Mishra’s heart sank after listening to this tale of terror. After this, he claimed he would not sing this song until Pakistan solved its terrorism problem.
