Emraan Hashmi revisited the controversial Koffee With Karan episode in which he called Aishwarya Rai Bachchan 'plastic.'

Emraan Hashmi opened up about the controversial Koffee With Karan episode in which he called Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ‘plastic.’ The episode aired in January 2014. Although it has been a decade, the episode’s mention and the segment’s video often surfaces online. In a recent interview, Emraan opened up about the episode and said that he faced the brunt for calling ‘spade a spade’. He added that after the segment was shot, everyone on the show were in shock and Karan even asked if he could keep the controversial answers on the show.

Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, Emraan said, “I think playing a fictional character over here (Showtime) is a guy who calls a spade a spade. Taking from the show (KWK) you just spoke about right now, I had to bear the burnt of it for quite some time for really calling a spade a spade.”

“When the Rapid Fire happened, I think Karan had cut the shot and he just looked around at the set and everyone was dumbfounded and he’s like ‘can you keep this?’ and the couple of people were like ‘yes’,” Emraan added. He said his calling spade a spade attitude is also seen in his character in his upcoming series, Showtime.

A few days ago, Karan Johar unveiled the trailer of his upcoming series, Showtime. Karan Johar is all set to reveal what goes on behind the scenes in Bollywood. Emraan Hashmi is back with another grey character in this web series – a film producer. Speaking to ANI, Emraan said, “The trailer gives people an idea of the world we have created of contemporary Bollywood and this web series will reveal a lot about our industry.”

The series will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on March 8. Besides Emraan, the series also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Mouni Roy, Mahima Makwana, Shriya Saran, Benedict Garrett, Rajeev Khandelwal, Sandeep Bhojak, and Sarveshwar Mahajan.
