Jolly LLB 3 is all set to go on floors this summer, a new report has claimed. Back in 2017, Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi starred in Jolly LLB 2 which was a spiritual sequel to Jolly LLB, which was released back in 2013. The first film featured Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in the lead roles. While Jolly LLB went on to become a sleeper hit, Jolly LLB 2 garnered both commercial and critical success for its nuanced screenplay and performances.
Now, five years after the release of Jolly LLB 2, Akshay Kumar is all set to return for Jolly LLB 3, with Arshad Warsi joining him. The actors will be reprising their respective roles in the film. A new report by Pinkvilla has claimed that the prep for the shooting has begun and the cameras will start rolling in summer this year.
“It’s basically Jolly vs. Jolly, and the entire cast is excited to start shooting for this ambitious film for the Jolly LLB franchise. The team is still contemplating two titles titled Jolly LLB 3 or Jolly vs. Jolly, and a call on the same will be taken closer to the announcement. The film is expected to kick off around May 2024 with a marathon schedule,” a source told the publication.
The film will be backed by Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, along with Disney. Speaking of the film’s plot, the source said, “This time, the face-off is between two Jolly’s played by Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi. Subhash has cracked a script that utilizes the comic timing and camaraderie shared by two and is set to take the audience on a ride in cinema halls in 2025.” Reportedly, the makers will be shooting at real locations along with sets.
Subhash Kapoor is reportedly looking forward to shooting a part of the film in Jaipur but has yet to finalize the locations. Apart from the lead actors Akshay and Arshad, Saurabh Shukla will be reprising his role as the judge.
“Subhash plans to shoot a part of the film in Jaipur and is at present on the verge of locking down the locations of the shoot. Apart from the two leads, Saurabh Shukla too will be joining the cast in a key role, much like in the earlier two films. In fact, he will be the constant face of the franchise through the three parts as the judge, who has individually judged cases of both Jolly in the past,” the source added.
Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Arshad explained the reason behind going MIA in Jolly LLB 2. He shared, “I have no idea. I have a feeling the makers wanted to upscale the film. I remember I told Subhash (Kapoor, director) also, ‘You should do it with Akshay. If you want to show a crowd in a courtroom, with me it will be 500; with Akshay, you will get 5000′. Somewhere, the production people realized, ‘Let’s get a bigger star’. People liked to see me, so I am back. People will enjoy seeing me and Akshay.”
