Ranveer Singh Calls Johnny Depp His 'Idol': 'Everything You've Taught Me... I'm Inspired By You'

Ranveer Singh was recently honoured at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah. He received an award for his contribution towards cinema from Hollywood icon Sharon Stone. During his acceptance speech, Ranveer expressed his appreciation for Johnny Depp, who was sitting in the audience. Ranveer called Johnny his idol and spoke about the actor’s influence on him.

Ranveer said, “Wow, one of my screen idols is in the house. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Johnny Depp. My good sir, I’ve followed your work since Edward Scissorhands and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. What an honour to be receiving this in your presence. Thank you for everything that you’ve unknowingly taught me about the craft, sir. Master of transformation, versatility, something in that… I’m inspired by you.”

Ranveer also posed for a photo later with Johnny. He looked dapper in a black, shimmery blazer worn over a black shirt and matching black pants. He was handed the award by Sharon Stone, who said, “I have had the exciting pleasure of meeting Ranveer Singh before. What a great guy! He is truly an all-rounder creative genius. It gives me genuine great pleasure to welcome him to the stage to receive yet another prestigious award.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranveer Singh was last seen in Karan Johar’s directorial venture Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani alongside Alia Bhatt. He received a lot of praise for his performance as Rocky Randhawa in the film. He will next be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, taking the reigns from Shah Rukh Khan.
