Actor Rishab Shetty, who became a household name after the phenomenal success of his film Kantara, has clarified that he was not taking a dig at any actor when he said that he didn’t want to leave Kannada film industry after just one hit movie. Rishab recently spoke about his deep admiration for the Kannada cinema at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). He revealed that he got numerous offers from Bollywood and other industries after the success of Kantara, but he made a conscious decision to stick to doing Kannada films.
“I have to give the initial credit to the Kannada audience for making Kantara such a huge success. It is because of them that the film went on to have a wider reach in other states. So, I’m always grateful and thankful to the Kannada audience. So, I shouldn’t be the person who is leaving the industry after delivering just one hit,” Rishab said at the IFFI. This made netizens wonder if Rishab was taking a dig at actress Rashmika Mandanna who disappeared from the Kannada movies after the success of her debut film Kirik Party.
However, now an X user, which goes by the handle @Pushkar327, has apologised to Rishab for misinterpreting the actor’s statement. Sharing Rishab’s speech from the IFFI, the user wrote, “This is what he actually said. He meant that he doesn’t want to be called a person who’s leaving the industry after delivering one hit. It does not imply ‘I’m not leaving Kannada industry like others’. Lot of difference.”
Responding to the post, Rishab wrote: “No problem! Finally someone understood what I really meant to say.”

Rashmika has been in the news for her new Bollywood movie Animal with Ranbir Kapoor. Her kissing scene with Ranbir in the film has generated a lot of buzz on social media. The film is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
