Ranbir Kapoor-led Animal is one of the most-talked-about films of the year. The film was finally released on December 1 amid much anticipation surrounding its gripping storyline and the interesting characters played by the stellar star cast. While Parineeti Chopra was roped in for the film earlier, she was later replaced by Rashmika Mandanna. Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently spoke about why he replaced Parineeti in the film and also revealed that Parineeti was his first choice to play Preeti in Kabir Singh.
Speaking to Komal Nahta in an interview, Sandeep said, “Actually, galati mera hi hai. I said, ‘Ho sake toh maaf karo mujhe.’ I signed her one and a half years before the shoot and for some reason, I didn’t see Geetanjali in her. Kuch kuch characters kuch kuch logo ko set nahi hota hai.”

“Main kabhi audition main believe nahi karta. I go with my instinct only. That I know. From day one I have liked her acting and I always wanted to cast her as Preeti also in Kabir Singh but hua nahi uss time. That’s long due. I always wanted to work with her. I told her and she also knows that. I told her, ‘Sorry, nothing is bigger than the film. So I’m taking this decision and going ahead with another artist.’ She felt bad but she understood why I was saying that,” he said.
Animal was first announced in January 2021 with Parineeti’s name included in the cast list. After Rashmika Mandanna was announced as the new leading lady of the film, Parineeti told India Today, “These things happen, it is part and parcel of life. We must make such choices every day. You make the choice that is right for you.” She will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Chamkila with Diljit Dosanjh.
