SEVENTEEN Leader S.Coups Gets Exempted From Military Service Due To Knee Injury
Pledis Entertainment announced that S.Coups and Jeonghan will start group activities in March after recovering from their injuries.

K-Pop group SEVENTEEN’s member S.Coups has been exempted from compulsory military enlistment. As per Soompi, the rapper and dancer was given the exemption following his serious knee injury that required surgery. In a statement, SEVENTEEN’s agency Pledis Entertainment explained, “Due to a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee joint, S.Coups underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery and anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery. Because it was a major surgery, he has been undergoing physical rehabilitation therapy for a long time, starting from last year up until now.” The agency added that S. Coups has been “classified as Grade 5.”

In South Korea’s military conscription system, men between the ages of 18 and 35 are graded on a scale of 1-7. While those in grades 1 to 4 serve the mandatory 18 to 21 months of service, those in grade 5 are exempted from military service due to their physical or psychological limitations. However, they are required to serve in the military during the war.

Pledis Entertainment also mentioned SEVENTEEN’s much-awaited comeback. The agency said that the group is preparing for an April comeback and promised the precise date will be announced in a later post.

Last week, on February 23, Pledis Entertainment announced that S.Coups and Jeonghan will return to group activities from March 1, after recovering from their knee and ankle injuries. While S.Coups has been on a hiatus since last August due to his knee injury. Jeonghan also went on a hiatus in December after injuring his ankle. Both group members underwent surgeries.

In a Weverse post, Pledis Entertainment wrote, “As a result of receiving constant care and taking sufficient rest, both artists have made a noticeable recovery. They have been cleared by medical professionals to resume their scheduled activities as long as they avoid straining their bodies.” The agency added that the duo’s participation in some events may be “limited” in order to “prevent straining their injured areas.”

S.Coups and Jeonghan are set to take part in SEVENTEEN’s Follow Again tour. The group will perform in their home country, South Korea, on March 30 and 31 in Incheon. They will then hold a concert at Osaka Japan on May 18 and May 19 at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai. They will return to Japan on May 25 and May 26 to perform at the Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa.
