Amitabh Bachchan’s hit movie Majboor was released in 1974. The film struck a chord with the audience and featured Zeenat Aman with Amitabh for the first time. Directed by Ravi Tandon, it was a huge success at the box office. 34 years after the release of the film, a remake was made which fell flat at the box office. It had Mimoh Chakraborty, son of Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty as the main lead. Well, the debut film of the actor paved the way for his struggling career in the entertainment industry.
The film named Jimmy was released in 2008. Directed by Raj N Sippy, Jimmy is a Hindi thriller. Despite the expectations and enough buzz, the film met with a disastrous response. Made on a budget of Rs 15 crore, it managed to earn only Rs 1.85 crore. Since then, he has not been able to revive his career.
It has been more than 15 years since the debut but Mimoh is still struggling and has never given a superhit film. He has only one hit film in his name, Haunted 3D. The horror film, released in 2011, received a warm response and the audience showered the film with love. If reports are to be believed, Haunted 3D required Rs 13 crore to be made and earned Rs 37 crore at the box office. Since then, the actor has been looking to grab another opportunity to prove his mettle and give a superhit film.
While speaking to OTTplay, Mimoh, once said, “I think I am the living example of how nepotism does not work, right opportunity and talent does. In my journey so far, which of course is not a small period because it’s been 15 years since I made my debut in Bollywood, I am treated unfairly because I did not get the right kind of opportunity. On one hand, I was removed from films, on the other hand, people refused to give me any opportunity due to the lack of hit films that I could not deliver. My only commercially successful film was Hunted 3D.”
