Three teenage boys allegedly stabbed a man to death and later set his body on fire using dry grass and cloth in southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin, police said on Sunday.
According to the police, this was done as an act of revenge by the accused because one of them had been sexually abused by the deceased.
“We have apprehended three juveniles who are in the age group of 16 and 17, after an information was received about the incident on the night of December 23,” a senior police officer said.
Police said that they formed a team for the probe and later nabbed the accused from the Nizamuddin Basti area.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the crime, adding that they had kept the corpse of the man — Azad — near Khusro park.
Following their confession, police teams — along with the accused — reached the park, only to find a half-burnt corpse. The crime scene was investigated by their team, after which the body was taken into custody and sent for autopsy at AIIMS.
An FIR for the charges of murder and hiding evidences of the crime was registered against the accused.
The juveniles told the police that they had killed the man on the night of December 21 and tried to burn his body by putting dry grass and cloth, investigators said.
The accused said they did this to take revenge from the deceased, who used to sexually exploit one of the juveniles. “We have recovered the weapon used in the murder, which included stones and a stick,” police said.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, they added.
