Delhi government offices are set to remain closed for half a day on January 22 on the occasion of the consecration ceremony or ‘pran-pratishtha’ at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. A Raj Niwas official stated that Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena approved a half-day holiday for all Delhi government offices, civic bodies and other undertakings on January 22.

Meanwhile, a Delhi government officer said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal issued an order for the closure of government offices till 2.30 pm on January 22.

The ‘pran-pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla will take place in the presence of over 11,000 VIP attendees including politicians, celebrities, and sportspersons. The event will be presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is set to address the gathering from the ‘Singh Dwar’ of the temple.

Ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, several states have declared holidays or half-days on January 22.

Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Haryana are among the states that have announced a public holiday or declared half-day on January 22, while the central government has already announced a half-day holiday for all its employees on the occasion.

All government offices and institutions will remain closed for half a day in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, Assam, Tripura and Gujarat in view of the consecration ceremony on January 22.

“To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all government offices, boards, corporations, institutions, including industrial establishments, under the Chandigarh Administration, will be closed on January 22,” read an order issued by the Chandigarh UT’s Home Department on Friday.
