Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday joined the mega country-wide cleanliness drive with fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya, famous for his catchphrase ‘Ram Ram Sareya Ne‘.

Entire country on Sunday, on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, observed the cleanliness initiative as part of Swachh Bharat under which PM Modi had called for everyone to undertake sanitation measures for an hour.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was joined by ‘Ram Ram Sareya Ne’ fame Ankit Baiyanpuriya for the cleanliness drive.

“Today, as the nation focuses on Swachhata, Ankit Baiyanpuriya and I did the same! Beyond just cleanliness, we blended fitness and well-being also into the mix. It is all about that Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe,” PM Modi posted on microblogging site X along with a video.

The video shows the PM Modi and Ankit Baiyanpuriya wielding brooms and cleaning and picking up trash and discussing their daily routines.

How much time do you devote to physical activity, PM asked Ankit Baiyanpuriya in the video, to which the latter said he spends four to five hours a day for exercise, while appreciating the Prime Minister’s fitness regime.

“I don’t exercise much but whatever is needed in daily life… I follow discipline…,” PM Modi said. PM Modi said he is yet to be disciplined when it comes to two things – sleep and food.

“In two things, I am unable to get the discipline… one is food timing and the second is that I need to allot more time to sleep which I am unable to do,” PM Modi said.

Besides PM Modi, several other BJP leaders, including Union ministers, took up cleanliness programmes in different parts of the country.

Home Minister Amit Shah was seeing participating in Ahmedabad while BJP chief JP Nadda did so in Delhi.

People from all walks of life responded to the prime minister’s appeal and participated in the hour-long “shramdaan (voluntary labour)”.

According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, more than 9.20 lakh sites across the country were adopted for the mega drive.
