Shraddha Murder Case Updates: Aaftab Amin Poonawala, the accused in 27-year-old Shraddha Walkar’s murder case, underwent some sessions of his polygraph test on Monday at Rohini’s Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The police van carrying Poonawala was attacked by 2 men with swords outside the FSL office on Monday, which led to a massive protest in Delhi’s Rohini area.
His remaining sessions might continue on Tuesday as well, said Sanjeev Gupta, FSL Assistant director. The men who attacked the police van claimed to be from the Hindu Sena, an ANI report said. Soon after the incident, the men were detained by the Delhi Police.

The Delhi Police on Monday recovered the murder weapon used to kill 27-year-old Shraddha Walkar in Delhi’s Chhatarpur area. His live-in partner and murder accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala underwent the remaining sessions of his polygraph test, as there are still some “unanswered” questions related to the case.
Police also recovered Shraddha’s ring that Aaftab had gifted to another girl whom he invited to his flat, an ANI report said. Aaftab is accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, and chopping her body into 35 pieces in Delhi’s Mehrauli.
On Monday, Poonawala reached Forensic Science Lab (FSL) at 9.50 am and the sessions began at around 11 am. “When the last session was held, there was a health issue due to which some sessions were not satisfactory. Our lab and preparation for the narco test is complete,” Head of the Department of Crime Scene Management at FSL, Rohini, Sanjeev Gupta, said.
A polygraph test was conducted on Sunday as well, but could not be completed despite Aaftab being taken to FSL Rohini for three days in a row.
Aaftab Kept Under CCTV Monitoring in Tihar Jail
Tihar jail PRO Dheeraj Mathur said Poonawala is in Tihar jail number 4. When he came, his health check-up was done and there were no issues, he said. He has been kept in a separate cell and is under 24-hour CCTV monitoring.
He has been kept on a “suicide watch” after he was sent to a 13-day judicial custody by the Delhi Court. According to Tihar sources, the accused woke up early morning on Sunday and had his breakfast. He has been chatting with two other inmates about jail procedures, TOI reported. He also wanted to go out for a walk but his request was denied due to risk factors.
A security guard will be stationed outside his cell, according to India Today. Apart from this, food will be served to the accused only in the presence of police personnel.
Narco analysis after polygraph test
If the polygraph test is concluded on Monday, the officials can further move to conduct his narco analysis. This is Aaftab’s fourth polygraph session. The first was conducted on Tuesday, followed by one on Wednesday where he reportedly fell ill and two more sessions happened on Thursday and Friday.
His polygraphy test went on for nearly three hours on Friday at the FSL. Aaftab may have anticipated the questions and rehearsed how to answer the experts during the test, an investigator said.
According to a report, a cop said Aaftab started coughing soon after the electrodes were attached to him to disrupt the readings. “Due to his coughing, the readings went haywire and we couldn’t decide whether he was telling the truth or manipulating the test,” the report claimed.
Drug peddler, close friend of Aaftab arrested in Gujarat
Faizal Momin, a drug peddler and a close friend of Aaftab has been arrested by the Surat Police in Gujarat. The investigation by Vasai police has revealed that Aaftab had a “close relation” with Momin and that he has visited his house several times, News18 sources say. Momin is a resident of Vasai and was hiding in Surat.
Earlier it was revealed that Aaftab used to do drugs, and was also connected to supplying them.
