Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday chaired the last meeting of the council of ministers, where they brainstormed on a vision document for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and a detailed action plan for the next five years before the Lok Sabha elections. The council also worked on a 100-day agenda for quick implementation on formation of the new government in May.
Earlier, the prime minister and union home minister Amit Shah posted on social media about donations via NaMo app towards the ‘Viksit Bharat’ campaign.
According to government sources, the Viksit Bharat roadmap is a result of more than two years of preparation. It involves a whole-of-government approach with all the ministries and wide-ranging consultations with state governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society, scientific organisations and youth mobilisation, they said.
Sources said over 2,700 meetings, workshops and seminars were held at various levels, while suggestions of more than 20 lakh youngsters were received. The roadmap is a blueprint with national vision, aspirations, goals and action points based on economic growth, sustainable development goals (SDG), ease of living, ease of doing business, infrastructure, and social welfare.
Prime Minister Modi has asked his colleagues to focus on ‘Viksit Bharat’ and the idea of making life easier and better for the general public. This will also be reflected in the full budget presented by the new cabinet in June, sources said.
In the last cabinet meeting held recently, Modi had told his colleagues that they will need to deliberate on the idea of India in 100 days after the new government is formed, and also devise a plan for the next five years. Ministers were asked to submit ideas that the cabinet secretariat would follow up with from time to time.
