Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the inaugural function of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir has become political due to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi’s anti-Hindu stand.
Addressing the media, CM Sarma said that inauguration of the temple at Ayodhya is a historic event and a triumph of Indian Civilisation. He further stated that Rahul Gandhi is coinciding Assam’s welfare programmes, whereas, he cancelled all his pre-planned government programmes in Upper Assam during Gandhi’s visit there.
Sarma said, “Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi are making it political by their anti-Hindu notion, otherwise it is a simple function. Everybody will go for Ram Lalla’s Darshan and come back. Nobody will give any political speech I am sure, nobody will give any anti- Congress speech that day.”
“It is Congress party who is making it a political event, not the Viswa Hindu Parishad and other people. For other people it is a triumph of Indian Civilisation,” he added.
He further said that if the Congress goes to the programme and sits in the front row, then there will not be any politics.
While denying that BJP has created problem in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyaay Yatra in Assam, he said, “Rahul Gandhi is coinciding with our welfare programmes.”
He also mentioned that AICC leaders including National Secretary Jitendra Singh alleged that BJP is creating problem in Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra by announcing some event on the same dates of Rahul’s visit.
On January 18, the Assam Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate Bhaona Samaroh in Majuli, but on Tuesday he announced that he has cancelled all his official visits to upper Assam during Rahul Gandhi’s visit.
Replying to a reporter’s question on the allegations made by Congress he said, “Its he, not we because all these dates were declared even before we know that Rahul Gandhi will come. Rather as a gesture, I have cancelled my Majuli programme so that it does not get clash with Rahul Gandhi’s. Otherwise, administration will be at difficulties because it is a small district.”
He also said, “On January 18 and 19, I had a pre-determined programme of ration card distribution in Jorhat and Dergaon and I have cancelled that as well.”
