House panel can amend Govt's Bill: Pranab
Union Minister Pranab Mukherjee also stressed on the need for change in system and we are doing so.

New Delhi: Leader of House Pranab Mukherjee made the concluding remarks on the discussion on Lokpal Bills and said there's no need to withdraw the government's version of the Bill and the Standing Committee is free to make any change it wants to.

He said 27 members have already spoken in the House and there is a time constraint.

"It is a lapse on our parts that successive governments could not bring the Lokpal Bill," said Pranab.

He also said there has to be a difference between mobocracy and democracy.

He also stated, "One piece of legislation, however strong and empowered it may be, cannot completely eradicate corruption."

Pranab also stressed on the need for change in system and said, "we are doing so".
