Land case: FIR registered against BSY, Cong leader
A probe into this complaint was ordered by Lokayukta court Judge NK Sudhindra Rao on March 7.

Bangalore: Lokayukta police registered an FIR against former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Congress leader DK Shivakumar and a former Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday in connection with a complaint relating to alleged irregularities in denotification of land.

The Lokayukta police has been directed to submit its report by April 14.

Shivakumar and then Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner Ramegowda have been accused of illegally denotifying 4 acres 20 guntas (a gunta is 1/40th of an acre) in Benegenahalli near Indira Nagar which was notified by Bangalore Development Authority for formation of NGEF residential layout in 1986.

Subsequently, this land was purchased by Shivakumar on December 18, 2003, which was "illegal", the complaint filed by social activist and entrepreneur TJ Abraham said. On February 17, 2004, Shivakumar got the land converted in his own name by Ramegowda and in the same year entered into a joint development partnership with private builder Purvankara for building an apartment complex on the said land.

Meanwhile, the original owner of the land, 90 year-old BK Srinivasan died in 2007.

In 2010, when Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister, Shivakumar allegedly approached him with an application for denotification in the name of Srinivasan (who was dead).

A probe into this complaint was ordered by Lokayukta court Judge NK Sudhindra Rao on March 7.
