Google seems to be ready for something new. It has finally confirmed that a new Pixel device is launching on August 3. This means that the Pixel 4a is finally going to see the light of day. With that, the search giant also seems to be leaving a bunch of teasers on its official Twitter account as well as its official website.
If you head over to Google Store’s international page, there is a teaser where you click on various coloured boxes to reveal a message. Once you match the boxes with the colour of Google’s logo (blue, red, yellow, blue, green, and red) the message reads “Just What You've Been Waiting For” unlocking between the words “The Google Phone’ as well the launch date which is August 3. There are also a bunch of random photography references all around the website like “lorem ipsum”, “lowlightena”, “bokehus”, and “megapixelum.” All of these words are probably to highlight the camera capability of the upcoming Pixel smartphone.
Google has also updated its social media channels including a new header for the Made by Google Twitter account. If you look carefully, there is a small circle cutout, which is an obvious teaser for the upcoming Pixel 4A’s punch-hole display that we have seen in numerous leaks and renders.
The good news is, the wait is finally over. We will see the Pixel 4a officially launching in just a few days. We are not sure how long Google will take to bring this device to India, but it has been a long time since the company has launched any smartphone in the country. If you remember, the Pixel 4 was not launched due to certain issues with the Soli radar.
As for the Google Pixel 4a, it is expected to feature a 5.81-inch, 2340x1080 display with a punch hole on the top right corner. It is expected to run on a Snapdragon 730 SoC with Adreno 618 GPU, and 6GB of RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage options. The handset will most likely run Android 10 but should soon get the Android 11 update as soon as Google releases it. The battery of the Pixel 4a is said to be rated at 3,018mAh with support for 18W fast charging, and expect a physical fingerprint scanner at the back. The camera is yet again going to be a single 12-megapixel but considering how well Google’s camera software is, the performance could be great. As for the pricing, the 64GB variant is expected to be priced at $299 (Rs 22,500 approx) and the 128GB variant is said to be priced at $349 (Rs 27,000 approx). A previous leak suggested that the Pixel 4a pricing would start at $399 (Rs 30,000 approx) but that was before Apple announced its affordable iPhone SE.
