New Delhi: A day after the images and specs of its newest tablet were leaked, Samsung has officially globally launched its flagship Galaxy Tab S2 tablet that is claimed to be the most-immersive Samsung tablet till date, courtesy its Super AMOLED display that is optimised to suit any digital content and offer iPad Air 2-like 2048 X 1536 resolution.
At just 5.6mm thin and weighing only 389g for the 9.7-inch model and 265g for the 8.0-inch variant, the Galaxy Tab S2 is said to be thinnest and lightest tablet of its size.
The tablet is powered by a 1.9GHz and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor clubbed with 3GB RAM. Internal storage offered is 32/64GB with support for expansion up to 128GB via microSD card.
It is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and features an 8 megapixel rear camera combined with a 2.1 megapixel front snapper.
The Samsung Tab S2 also comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button for added security and both sizes have WiFi and LTE options. The 9.7-inch model tablet is powered by a 5,870mAh battery, while a 8.0-inch model draws its juice from a 4,000mAh battery.
Prices of the Galaxy Tab S2 tablets have not been disclosed yet. They will be available in global markets, starting from August, 2015.
