New Delhi: Google has added a new feature to its Maps that will make it a more useful mapping and location-finding service especially in foreign places.

The new feature, developed and launched first in Japan, explains businesses of a particular place. This is especially helpful when traveling to a country with an unfamiliar language when based on names it is difficult to gauge what the place is.

Businesses in Japan can now list themselves into 1,000 different categories in 19 languages including Hindi, Arabic, Russian, and Thai.

These categories - like restaurants, bookstore, or medicine store - show up right on the map view without the need to open a listing's page, The Verge reports.

Although the feature is currently only available in Japan, in all likelihood, it is expected to be rolled out worldwide.
