New Delhi: Motorola is all set to launch its much-awaited Moto E (2nd generation) smartphone in India on March 10. The company has kept the price of the new Moto E for the Indian market same as the previous generation model.
The new Moto E, which was globally announced late last month, will carry a price tag of Rs 6,999 for the 3G variant and will be exclusively available on Flipkart.
Among the improvements over the last year's model, the camera in the new model has auto-focusing, while the older model had a fixed-focus lens that didn't compensate for how far away the subject was. The new Moto E will also have a front-facing camera for selfies.
The second-gen Moto E runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop software, features a 4.5-inch display, 2390mAh battery, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and advanced graphics.
There's also a model with 4G cellular connectivity. The company, however, has not teased it for the Indian market yet.
Motorola, which Lenovo Group bought from Google in October, has been trying to set itself apart from other phone makers by selling cheaper phones that have some features found in higher-end products. For instance, all of its phones use Corning's Gorilla Glass for durability.
The company recently slashed the price of the first-gen Moto E model by Rs 1000, bringing the price down to Rs 5,999.
