CMF Phone 1 launched recently in the market and showed that phones can be fun with its modular design and ability to change covers. But as you might know, the battery unit on the CMF Phone 1 is not removable and protected behind another layer at the back. But does the modular-friendly CMF Phone 1 guarantee the ease to repair?
Well, turns out, the CMF Phone 1 can be a hard task to repair and would need expertise to get around the device innards in case you face any technical issues with the phone later. In fact, the device has scored 6.5 out 10 in the repairability score, courtesy PBKReviews.
We already know that the back panel is removable once you take off the four screws from all corners, but CMF seems to have gone one step further by solidifying the battery unit inside so that people cannot easily tamper with it and void their warranty. The tipster noticed that even though a small film protects the battery on the CMF Phone 1, removing that means you lose the warranty for the device.
That’s not all, the main unit is secured with 12 Philips screws and any further tampering will show evidence to the company, which again means you lose the warranty. The top half of the device is where you have the camera cover and the antenna for call networks and more.
The camera sensor, RAM and the chipset are housed within the motherboard which is the main component for any smartphone. Most people would say that CMF Phone 1 looks fairly easy to repair so why did the tests give it only 6.5?
The problem is with the battery itself which seems to have a screw under the Accessory Point and only then the battery on the CMF Phone 1 can completely come off. Even the motherboard and speaker assembly is not easy to detach which means further challenges in repairing the phone.
The CMF Phone 1 has launched for Rs 17,999 in the Indian market and the overall package has proven to be of value but buying a separate charger and other accessories pushes its final price higher.
