New Delhi: Samsung, which has been long rumoured to unveil the next version of its Galaxy S smartphone, Galaxy S6, on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2015, has now got a launch date for the new flagship. The company has started sending out media invites for its March 1 Galaxy Unpacked event where it is expected to launch its next flagship Galaxy S6.
The invite does not mention anything as to what the company has up its sleeves for the event, but the company in the past has used its "Unpacked" events to announce high-end smartphones.
An image of a curved silhouette with "What's next" written underneath on the invite hints at a curved Galaxy S6. It is, however, not clear whether the standard version of the S6 would have a curved display or the curved design would make it to another variant of the S6.
The upcoming Galaxy S6 is expected to come with a 5.1-inch screen, fingerprint sensor, 4GB of RAM, and a 20-megapixel camera. The Galaxy S6 is likely to be be launched in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage variants.
A recent Bloomber report, citing unidentified sources, has already said that Samsung will not use Qualcomm's processors for the next version of the flagship Galaxy S smartphone as the new Snapdragon 810 chip found to be overheating during Samsung's testing.
Analysts say Samsung is under immense pressure to hang on to its market share, with a lot resting on the launch of its next flagship Galaxy S6 high-end smartphone due around March. It will need to ensure that the phone does not disappoint in order to keep its global market share from slipping further.
