Telegram Takes The Fight to Clubhouse With Voice Chats 2.0: All That's New
Apart from the Voice Chats enhancements, Telegram is also getting a couple of additional features with the latest update.

Instant messaging app Telegram has brought a new feature called Voice Chats 2.0, which extends Voice Chat support to Channels and introduces a couple of new features to improve the Voice Chat experience on Telegram. The new Telegram Voice Chat features were spotted in a beta update earlier this month. Now, the features are rolling out with the latest stable Telegram release. With Voice Chats 2.0, Channel admins now get the ability to host voice chats. In order to do this, admins will have to open any group or channel, then tap on the three-dot menu icon, then select “Start Voice Chat” option.

Voice Chats 2.0 also allows Group and Channel admins to record audio from voice chats and publish them in the group/channel for members who missed the live. The recorded chats are saved in Saved Messages. Further, there is a new Raise Hand feature that will help muted participants easily indicate that they want to speak. Admins will see a new animation whenever a participant uses the raise hand option. Tapping on the Raise Hand animation will open a pop-up window with an option to allow the participant to speak, open chat, or remove the participant. There is also an option to share invite links to Voice Chats. This setting will let admins create separate links for speakers and listeners. Admins now also have an option to add titles to Voice Chats to help members see the topic of conversation before joining.

The latest update also allows users to choose if they want to join a Voice Chat via their personal account or channel account. Apart from the Voice Chats enhancements, Telegram is also getting a couple of additional features with the latest update including the ability to cancel a forwarded message before sending it, and the option of resuming playback from where a user left off when listening to long voice messages. Lastly, Android users are getting a “Swipe Left” functionality. Swiping left on a contact will open options like archiving, pinning, mute, delete, mark as read, etc.
