Applications suffering glitches and malfunctions are not a thing of the past. Sometimes apps refuse to open, while at other times users are bombarded with messages like “Something went wrong”, indicating that the application is not working properly. Coding inaccuracies unpredictable interactions between software components, or problems with updates and patches can all lead to these errors. Walking along a similar vein, an online trading app named Zerodha experienced an identical service disruption in the wee hours of Monday, January 29. Users were unable to access information about their accounts like trades, positions, and holdings. Zerodha users vented their disappointment through a flurry of memes and hilarious posts on X (formerly Twitter).
The service outage caused great inconvenience and distress among traders since it not only made it impossible for customers to check their account details but also made it difficult for them to make orders or dissolve open positions. Regretting the inconvenience and acknowledging the problem, Zerodah on X wrote, “Due to a connectivity issue, some of our users were intermittently facing issues with order placement on Kite. This issue is now resolved. We regret the inconvenience caused.”

This is not the first time that the trading application faced problems. Zerodha experienced recurring technical issues in the past few months with the recent one being the third known issue. Prior problems also had to do with order visibility and execution, exposing a trend of instability that has continued to irritate users.
