Libya To Niger, Countries That Shouldn't Be On Your Vacation List
The basic requirement of planning a solo vacation is to travel to a safe country.

The fundamental prerequisite for planning a solo vacation is choosing a destination that not only offers captivating visuals but is also deemed safe for tourists. Consequently, countries such as Greenland, Finland, Norway, Iceland, and Luxembourg are favoured choices, as they have been recognised as among the safest for travel, minimising the risk of encountering diseases. A recent report from International SOS, a prominent risk assessment company, ranked countries based on security, medical threats, and the impact of climate change, providing insights for travellers.

According to CNBC, the report designates certain African nations, including Libya and South Sudan, as having ‘extreme’ security risks. These countries are characterised by limited government control, law enforcement, and scarce transportation services. Venezuela, Pakistan, and Burma are labelled as high-security risk countries, prone to violent protests that may target foreigners.

The risk of infectious diseases, such as Covid-19, coupled with limited access to medical services, is highest in African countries like Niger, Sudan, Libya, Afghanistan, and North Korea. In contrast, countries with the least medical risks include the U.S.A., Canada, Japan, Australia, and Singapore.

The report also categorises countries based on climate change vulnerability, with the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy considered to have low risk. In contrast, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Syria face the highest climate change risks, with the report predicting exacerbated issues due to global warming. In 2023, these regions experienced drastic climate changes, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius for extended periods. Instances of tourists fainting due to heat waves were reported in Rome. The forecast for 2024 suggests that extreme heat events may pose challenges for tourists, exacerbating medical risks and potentially leading to the emergence of increased prevalence of diseases.

As travellers plan their journeys, this comprehensive risk assessment provides valuable information for making informed decisions and ensuring a safe and enjoyable solo vacation experience.
