'Poore Kapde Pehenke Aao': Man Denied Entry In Bank For Wearing Shorts
A viral video is circulating that shows a man being denied entry to a Bank of India branch in Nagpur for wearing shorts.

A recent occurrence at a Bank of India branch in Nagpur led to a discussion on social media over discrimination and dress codes after a man was refused entry for wearing shorts.

The video shows the man arguing with a security guard, allegedly to demonstrate the guard’s refusal to let him in because of his clothes.

The incident happened when the Nagpur man tried to enter the bank to do some money transfers. He attempted to enter the bank but was stopped by security guards who pointed out that visitors must wear full-length trousers according to the bank’s dress code. The man, who had never encountered such limitations at other locations, expressed his shock and annoyance, saying he was unaware of the policy.

A security guard standing at the bank’s gate is seen in the video arguing with a customer after he claims that the reason the man was denied entry to the bank was because he was wearing shorts instead of trousers. The man can be heard inquiring as to if there is a dress code for customers entering banks, but the guard stays silent.

Watch the video here:

The man in the video queries why there is a dress requirement for bank customers, but the guard doesn’t answer him directly.

Although the bank has maintained its decorum-maintaining policy, the video has brought up more general concerns on how to strike a balance in public areas between professionalism and individual freedom.

Social media users were outraged by what they saw as discrimination based on dress as soon as the video went viral. Many people responded to the video on the internet by arguing that such “rules” were discriminatory and unfair, while other people claimed that there was no official dress code for customers.

One user on X (formally Twitter) wrote, “Orthodox security guard spotted”. A second user commented, “Leave everything, Just look at the security guard’s fingers with rings! My goodness, is that guy earning in lakhs?” a third user, who faced a similar situation said, “I was also denied entry and I went back home.”
