Real-Life 12th Fail IPS Manoj Sharma Receives Heartfelt Tribute From His School

The movie – 12th Fail, based on the life and struggles of IPS officer Manoj Sharma gained much appreciation from the critics and audiences. The film portrays Sharma’s real-life journey from being a 12th class student to passing the civil services examination. Recently, the IPS officer shared a post on X (Formerly Twitter) about a special tribute from his village school in Bilgram, Madhya Pradesh.

In the post, Sharma expressed his happiness, mentioning that while his name could be recognised anywhere in the world, the greatest joy was when something positive was associated with him in his village.

He shared pictures of a tribute written on the wall of his village school, where he was referred to as ‘Gaon Ka Gaurav’ or ‘Pride of the Village.’ The school message expressed gratitude to Sharma for being an inspiration and role model for others.

“Your name can be written on any corner of the world, but the greatest happiness comes only when something good for you is written on the wall of your village school,” reads the caption by IPS Manoj Sharma.

“Aap hum sabhi ke liye adarsh hai. Aapse hume prerana milti hai. (You are an inspiration for all of us),” read the message written on the wall.

As soon as the post was shared on the micro-blogging site X, people were quick to react and share their thoughts. “One of the biggest satisfaction and achievements of life,” said a user. An account remarked, “You deserve this.” Another commented, “Sir, it is a proud feeling. You are an inspiration for the young generation.” So far, the post has mustered more than 229,660 views.

The 12th Fail movie was released in October 2023. The film is based on a 2019 novel of the same name by Anurag Pathak about Manoj Sharma’s battle with extreme poverty in his journey to become an IPS officer. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail stars Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in lead roles.

12th Fail not only earned Vikrant Massey the Best Actor (Critics’) award but also won awards in multiple categories at the Filmfare Awards 2024, including the Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, shared in an interview with Times of India that it was Rajkumar Hirani, who had suggested him to turn Manoj Sharma’s book into a film.
