Speeding E-Rickshaw Runs Over Woman in Kanpur, Sparks Outrage Online

In a disturbing incident, a woman in Kanpur was recently struck down by an e-rickshaw on a busy road. To everyone’s surprise, the driver is seen speeding his vehicle suddenly and running it over the woman’s legs. This incident was caught on CCTV that was installed nearby. According to reports, the mishap happened on July 24 at around 7 pm.

The clip opens with a woman walking along the road, seemingly unaware of the approaching e-rickshaw from behind. The woman in the video is carrying two big bags in both her hands. Unexpectedly, an e-rickshaw approaches from behind and collides with her, knocking her down and leaving her sprawled in the middle of the road.

The impact of the crash is shocking, and the e-rickshaw drives away, leaving the woman hurt and defenceless on the road. Soon after the accident, a few people ran behind the e-rickshaw to get hold of the driver. Others who were standing close to the woman rushed to help her.

After the footage grabbed attention on social media, users expressed anger over the incident. Many even demanded strict action against the driver.

Meanwhile, the official X account of Police Commissionerate Kanpur Nagar shared an update on the same. “No application has been filed in connection with the above case. Both the parties have dissolved the matter with mutual consent. If any complaints are received, the appropriate action will be taken,” the post read.

Shared on July 26, the video has collected over 2 lakh views.
