A viral video featuring a German couple living in a van and travelling the world has captured the curiosity of many on social media. According to The Sun, the couple, Nik and Yas, both 29 years old, decided to leave behind their traditional 9-to-5 jobs in 2017 to embark on an adventurous six-month trip to Australia. This journey ignited their passion for a life on the road, leading to a surprising twist: what was supposed to be a short trip turned into a three-year global adventure.
In 2020, the couple took their love for travel to the next level by purchasing a van worth approximately Rs 11 Lakhs. They spent the next seven months working tirelessly, dedicating 12 hours a day to renovating and customizing the van themselves. Their hard work paid off, resulting in a fully self-sufficient, mobile home equipped with all the essentials and comforts they needed for their travels.
Nik and Yas designed and built everything inside the van, from the electrical wiring to the furniture. They equipped the van with clever storage solutions to maximize space, addressing common questions about how they manage to store everything they need. Despite limited space, the couple managed to fit in not only pots and pans but also luxury items like stoneware, a waffle maker, and even a blender. Their kitchen is also equipped with fondue and Raclette sets, adding a touch of gourmet flair to their meals on the road.
The van features a unique layout, including a lounge area that converts into a bed measuring 182 by 120 cm, where they’ve comfortably slept for the past two years. They plan to extend the bed for more space. One of the van’s standout features is a full-size mirror attached securely to the wall, allowing it to stay in place while driving.
The couple’s journey has taken them across Europe, from the stunning landscapes of Norway and Switzerland to the vibrant cultures of France and Spain. Their video, captioned “Luxury van tour,” has garnered 10.8 thousand views on Instagram, with users praising their creativity and the innovative ideas that have turned their van into a luxurious home on wheels.
