Tech journalists and YouTubers often provide valuable feedback to help companies improve their products. However, it seems Arun Maini, also known as Mrwhosetheboss, irked Google with his review of last year’s Pixel phone. Fans of his channel were wondering why he hadn’t shared his first impressions of the new Pixel series yet, especially when other popular creators’ opinions were out.
Criticising the tech giant, Maini suggested that his negative review of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro might have led Google to exclude him from their Pixel 9 launch event and not send him a review model. The content creator mentioned on X that he didn’t remove his past review because his opinion remain unchanged.
Maini wrote, “For those of you asking for our Google Pixel review. We didn’t get an invite to the Google Pixel event this year. Reached out to multiple different Google contacts and have not heard anything back. We were critical of the last-gen Pixel devices, but that shouldn’t be a reason to not be included in this year’s launch. I stand by my criticisms and if anything it should be seen as a chance to make the product better and then prove it by allowing us to go hands-on.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “This is real shady of Google. You’re one of the largest tech content creators on YouTube, and they’re just not going to invite you because you gave negative feedback. So everyone’s just supposed to say good things to get invited?”

“Reminds me of Lew Unbox Therapy when Apple shut him away for criticizing Apple so bad. That channel fell off so hard after that,” a comment read.

Another wrote, “Well I saw your pixel 8 pro review and many things you said weren’t justified. You wanted attention and didn’t give Google full credit. Yes, their pixels since 6/6 pro weren’t the best but they are still good for their value money. So I understand why Google didn’t invite you this time.”

One more added, “This is so childish actually. Instead of taking the criticism positively, brands now blacklist media who say something negative about their products.”
This is the story of almost every other brand. Apple sidelined Unbox Therapy after Bendgate. This is so childish actually.
