According to Mashable India, “Rock, paper, scissors” called Janken in Japan was part of an event organised by pop group AKB48 to determine who would appear on their next record. The competing contestants are Yumoto Ami and Tanabe Miku were competing against one another, reports add.

Sharing the video, a user wrote, “Who knew Japan took rock, paper, scissors so seriously,” in the caption. The old video shared on X on August 29 has collected over 20 million views.

While such a contest may appear unusual, the video overwhelms you emotionally. She wells up and kneels, in disbelief of what has happened. As the crowd roars with further acclaim, her rival hugs her. Tanabe, who is exhausted, goes on to add that she will drink to relieve her exhaustion.
