The fight started when one group was caught talking negatively about the other.

In India, public outbursts and fights are fairly common. Often videos of people fighting over seats in public transport or disrupting traffic over road rage surface online. In extreme cases, such fights cause injuries and property damage. Now, a video of one such public fight that involves two groups of women is going viral.

The undated video depicts a disturbing scene where a group of women engages in a violent altercation, wielding large sticks and even resorting to using plastic chairs as weapons. The confrontation involves physical aggression, including punches and hair-pulling, escalating to the point where a small structure collapses as two women collide. Of particular concern is the involvement of children witnessing and potentially being affected by the fight.

The undated video, allegedly filmed in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly stems from a dispute triggered by one group caught backbiting about the other. Originally shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the popular account “Ghar Ke Kalesh” on January 27, the video has amassed over 47,000 views.

Commenting on this video, an X user wrote, “Inhe big boss main bhejo (Send them in Bigg Boss).” Another person observed, “Ye toh har ghar har mohalle ki kahani hai (This is the story of every house and colony).” Someone refers to this chaotic video as, “Sad State of my country.”

This is not the only video of a public outburst that has gone viral. Back in January, a video went viral that showed a passenger aboard a Delhi-Goa IndiGo flight hitting the pilot while he was announcing flight delays. The incident took place when the flight was delayed for over 10 hours due to dense fog in North India. Reportedly, the passengers were not informed about the reason behind the delay which added to their frustration.

The passenger, identified as Sahil Kataria, was deboarded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force. The pilot filed a case against the passenger with the Delhi Police and an FIR was filed regarded the same. The accused was soon released on bail.

A recent study has pointed to the rise in the instances of public outbursts in India. As per The State of Happiness 2023 report by consulting firm HappyPlus, negative or unhappy experiences rose in 2023, compared to 2022. HappyPlus Senior Director and Research Head Shyamasree Chakrabarty told the Economic Times, “People below 18 years and above 60 years are experiencing anger or sadness higher than any other age group in India. It also found 5 out of 10 reported as unhappy persons in comparison to 2 out of 10 in the previous year.”
