To ease traffic on the Noida and Greater Noida Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, an alternative expressway is planned from Okhla Barrage to Yamuna Expressway via the Hindon-Yamuna Doab. It will be either a 6-lane elevated or 8-lane ground-level expressway, aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing pollution.
Commuters face heavy traffic jams while traveling from Delhi to Noida, which is not only time-consuming but also increases carbon emissions, thereby contributing to air pollution. This has become a serious environmental concern.
To advance the new plan, the Noida Authority has sent a proposal to the Principal Secretary of Public Works Department of Uttar Pradesh government on September 18 to declare this route as National Highway.
Once this route gets the status of National Highway, further formalities will be completed to execute this project on ground. Following this, construction work on this new route will commence.
The new expressway will not only ease traffic congestion but also drive development in the region. This project is a significant step towards environmental protection and will also addressing future traffic demands.
Residents of Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi will get relief from traffic congestion, thereby giving a boost to the economic and social development of the region.
