With the big finale of the T20 World Cup 2024 just around the corner, it is set to be a cracking clash between two top sides. The former Indian cricketer, Mohammed Kaif believes that there isn’t a better opportunity for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to put in a performance and get that trophy in their hands.

Speaking during the pre-match coverage with Star Sports, the former Indian cricketer even went on to suggest that there is uncertainty regarding whether the two Indian icons would even play together with Rohit currently 37 years old while Virat Kohli is at 35 years old.

But Kaif suggested that they are on the right track with Kohli having performed phenomenally in the past few years while Rohit has set the template of how they should approach the big games.

Kaif said, “We don’t know whether they will play in a World Cup together in the future. They are going on the right track. Virat Kohli’s form in the past years has been great, even though he hasn’t done well in this tournament. but he has been phenomenal for the past 2-3 years”.

He added, “Rohit Sharma has set the example of how to turn up in the big games. In the quarters and semis, he was really good”.

Looking at the final, Kaif felt that there couldn’t be a better opportunity than what they had in front of them. The Indian team have the chance of reclaiming a World Cup trophy as they are set to take on South Africa. Both sides remain unbeaten and the winner would be the first team to ever go undefeated in the tournament.

“This is a good opportunity, the last time these two teams met in the ODI World Cup, Kohli scored a century, the form is there, and the experience of having faced Rabada and Nortje so I think that they won’t get many opportunities like this,” Kaif concluded.

Both sides are set to take each other on at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. India will be looking to claim their second T20 World Cup trophy while South Africa will be eyeing their first ever World Cup.
