Heat Wave Alert: Delhi, Rajasthan Schools To Be Shut Until June 30

Many states across the country have announced summer vacations amidst the soaring temperatures and heatwaves. These states include Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, etc. As per the academic calendar of the Delhi Education Directorate, there will be summer vacations from May 11 to June 30 in all government and government-aided schools. As per the reports, all the private schools in Delhi will announce summer vacation as per their schedule. Reportedly, the holidays will be announced in most of the private schools of Delhi till 20 or 21. The summer vacation has also been declared for all government schools in Rajasthan from May 17 to June 30.

In the case of Uttar Pradesh, the vacations have commenced today and will reportedly continue till June 25. According to another report, the vacations will continue till June 18. In the case of the Government schools, the summer break will start on May 20 for the primary and the upper primary students.

Here are the school timings and the summer vacation schedules of the other states-

1. Jharkhand

Classes up to grade 8 in all schools (government, aided, minority, and private) have been suspended due to the excessive heatwave. They will be reopened after the vacation is over. However, the classes for grades 9 and above can be held only between 7 am and 11:30 am to avoid peak heat hours.

2. Maharashtra

Maharashtra has announced an early summer vacation for schools due to the heat, beginning today, i.e-April 18th, 2024.

3. Odisha

Odisha has also declared summer vacation for schools from April 25th, 2024.

4. West Bengal

Similarly, the West Bengal government has also declared early summer vacation for schools from April 22nd, 2024.

5. Bihar

The Bihar government declared the early summer vacation for schools for 30 days, from April 15th to May 15th, 2024.

6. Puducherry

Summer vacation has been announced for Classes 1-9 in Puducherry from April 30th, 2024.

7. Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh government has also announced summer vacations for schools from April 24th to June 14th, 2024.

8. Karnataka

The Karnataka government has also announced summer vacations for schools from April 10th to May 15th, 2024.
