Tom Hiddleston’s Loki season 2 is set to premiere this week. The series is set to take Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans on an unforgettable journey across the Multiverse with the God of Mischief. After the grand success of the first season, executive producer Kevin R. Wright once again revives fan-favourite character Loki, portrayed by beloved star Tom Hiddleston. The highly-anticipated Original live-action series is directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw, and Kasra Farahani. The second season of Loki will delve into the aftermath of the shocking season 1 finale, with Loki embroiled in a struggle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Also joining the cast are Sophia Di Martino, and Owen Wilson as they reprise their roles in the cult show.
Executive producer Kevin R. Wright opened up about the series in a press statement and shed light on how Loki was conceptualised. “We got the mandate from Kevin Feige early in that TV shows need to be interchangeable with our theatrical experiences, and everyone took that to heart and wanted to build out a really grand story in Season 1 of Loki,” he said.
“It’s such a thrill to see that audiences connected with this new world and this new story and these new characters that we were launching into the world. Season 2 then sets a really high bar for us and we want to continue to build on that experience. We want these stories to feel epic in their spectacle, and they need to feel cinematic and filmic in their storytelling, and that these things that are happening here are going to have bigger implications for the grander universe,” he added.
Kevin R. Wright serves as an executive producer alongside Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Tom Hiddleston, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Eric Martin, and Michael Waldron with Trevor Waterson as Co-Executive Producer. The series is written by Eric Martin acting as Head Writer and also features Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, and Ke Huy Quan in pivotal roles.
