F.R.I.E.N.D.S Star Matthew Perry's Official Cause Of Death Remains Unclear, Toxicology Reports Awaited

The recently disclosed official death certificate of Friends star Matthew Perry has brought forth additional layers of mystery surrounding the circumstances of his passing away. The document, obtained by The Blast, specifies the cause of death as ‘deferred,’ indicating that further investigation and awaiting toxicology reports are necessary to establish the exact factors contributing to his demise. Matthew Perry, celebrated for his iconic role as Chandler Bing in Friends, died at the age of 54 on October 28. His lifeless body was discovered in his jacuzzi at a residence in the Los Angeles area.

The document sheds light on Perry’s remarkable 38-year career in the entertainment industry and designates his step-father, Keith Morrison, as the informant. It also confirms his final resting place at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles.

The actor’s untimely demise was reportedly revealed when his assistant found him lifeless following a two-hour pickleball session. Initially responding to a potential “water rescue” at Perry’s Pacific Palisades home, authorities discovered him unresponsive upon arrival. Notably, no signs of foul play or narcotics were reported at the scene, reported The Blast.

Despite Perry’s well-documented struggles with substance and alcohol abuse, especially following the release of his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, he had claimed sobriety before his death.

However, as per The Blast, the presence of prescription medications for anxiety, depression, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) prompted authorities to conduct an autopsy and defer the cause of death pending toxicology reports.

In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, Perry’s family released a statement expressing their deep sorrow and acknowledging the joy he brought to the world as both an actor and a friend. It read “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.”

His Friends castmates also issued a joint statement mourning his passing. “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss,” it reportedly said.

Six days after Matthew Perry’s demise, he was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills neighborhood. The intimate memorial service included his close family and friends. Perry’s final resting place is in close proximity to Warner Bros. studios, the filming location of Friends.

Forest Lawn Memorial Park also holds the remains of industry A-listers such as Michael Jackson, Carrie Fisher, and Paul Walker.

In an old interview, reflecting on his life during the promotion of his best-selling memoir last year, Perry had reportedly expressed a desire to be remembered as “a guy who lived life, loved well, lived well, and helped people. That running into me was a good thing and not something bad.”
