CHENNAI: Sri Bala Vinayagar Seva Trust on Monday observed the 118th Jayanthi celebrations of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Jagadguru Sri Mahaswamigal at Sri Bala Vinayagar Temple in Bharani Colony, Saligramam. Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal distributed around Rs 1.5 lakh worth of grants and blessed the people .Sixty aged Vedic scholars and 10 experts in Vaishnava system practices were honoured with certificate and Rs 1,650 worth grant. The grant included Rs 1,000 cash, dhoti and ritual utensil. Ten underprivileged students were each donated with Rs 3,200 worth bicycle. Sri Rudrakrama Parayanam and devotional discourse were held in commemoration.Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal also released a book titled ‘Periyava Ennaku Mattumdhaan’ authored by K Subramanian the Managing Trustee of Sri Bala Vinayagar Seva Trust. Suresh Kumar, Managing Director, Sri Sankara Television, received the first copy. Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal was present.The first part of the book details the personal experiences the author had with Kanchi’s Sri Mahaswamigal and the second part encompasses collection of pieces of information and guidance on spirituality.The celebrations will come to a close on Tuesday at 7 am with Avahanthi homam.
