3.7-kg Gold, Rs 12-lakh cash stolen from bank

KARIMNAGAR: About 3.725 kg gold and Rs 12.34 lakh cash was stolen by unidentified persons from Deecan Grameena Bank in Husnabad mandal headquarters on Monday night. Police suspect that about five professional robbers were involved in the burglary.According to Huzurabad DSP Sudarshan Goud, the bank staff, as usual, closed and locked the bank on Monday evening. Around midnight, culprits made their way to the bank from the door at the rear side and headed to the strongroom.They cut open the lockers with gas cutters, he said. The entire operation might have completed by the wee hours of Tuesday, the DSP said. Dog squad and clues team were pressed into service to nab the culprits. SP(Admn) RN Ammi Reddy visited the bank to inspect the crime.
