Moga: Punjab's Moga is yet again in news for the wrong reasons. In a shameful incident on Tuesday, eight men gangraped a 23-year-old girl even as the city is yet to come to terms with the tragic death of a teenager who died after she was thrown off a bus by her alleged molesters.
The girl had reportedly gone to her friend's house with a male friend where the incident occurred. She was allegedly raped by her friend's husband along with at least seven of his friends who were reportedly drunk.
The men then abandoned the girl outside the village. The victim has been hospitalised. The police have recorded the victim's statement and a case has been registered but no arrests have been made so far.
The incident comes a day after a minor girl in Moga died after being was thrown off a moving bus for protesting against eve-teasing. Four arrests have been made in the case.
Condemning the Moga molestation case, Punjab chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had admitted that the bus belonged to a company owned by his family. However, he assured that the accused will be brought to book.
The teenager, her mother and younger brother boarded a private bus from their village in Moga district to visit a gurudwara when they were targeted for resisting molestation attempts by a group of men.
When the girl and her family protested, they were thrown off the bus. There were only a handful of passengers in the bus when the incident took place. The eve teasers were allegedly the bus driver and conductor's friends.
