New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi is back in Parliament. Upbeat and confident about her own vote margin and also about her party's performance in the Assembly elections, Sonia took oath on Monday as MP from Rae Bareli.
Resigning following the office of profit controversy issue, Sonia had sought re-election from Rae Bareli. However, Sonia hit back at the Opposition and silenced her critics by a landslide victory with over four lakh votes.
“It is a victory for ideals and democracy. She has silenced those who attacked her. We are proud of her and Rahul and the people of Rae Bareli,” Priyanka Gandhi said.
But, this homecoming for Sonia will not be easy. The Opposition is all set to corner the Government over several matters including the office of profit issue and she will have to answer some tough questions.
Sonia's victory is also seen as an initiation of son Rahul Gandhi, her campaign manager into the grind of party organisation.
Not just Uttar Pradesh, Rahul will be expected to take up more responsibility to strengthen the party base. Rahul is seen as the real winner of this by-polls but what remains to be seen is will he fight back the way his mother?
