BANGALORE: It will probably not be an exaggeration to say that the veterinary clinic on Victoria Road is one of the most neglected veterinary clinics maintained by the Bangalore Zilla Panchayat. The veterinary clinic housed in a rented building owned by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) needs urgent repairs. A little rain is enough to make the staff members of this clinic run for cover. Most of its tiles are broken and one can see the sky through its roof, thanks to laggards who throw stones to suit their mood.“We have complained to the police station requesting the police to keep an eye on the wayward boys. Sometimes we find empty liquor bottles in the premises,’’ says one of the staff members on the condition of anonymity. In the absence of a security guard, the premises becomes a favourite destination for miscreants from surrounding areas to misuse the premises during the week ends. “They throw stones on this structure thus breaking the tiles if they come to know that we have lodged a complaint with the police,’’ says the staff member. The deputy director of Animal Husbandry Department, Bangalore Zilla Panchayat, had written a letter (C-10/building/09-10/433) on June 26, 2009, requesting joint commissioner, Mayohall, BBMP, to complete the repair works promised by the then commissioner of the BBMP. It was alleged that the BBMP did not evince interest either in renewing the lease agreement that expired in 1980 nor proactive to collect the rent from the clinic. “The agreement was for five years. It is not renewed till date. We are not in a position to take up repair works on our own,’’ says the staff member.Meanwhile, Dr Parviz Ahmed Piran S A, joint director (Animal Health), BBMP, has assured to do the needful. “I will discuss with the authorities concerned to take up repair works in this veterinary clinic. I am confident of completing the repair works within a month,’’ said Dr Parviz.
