BANGALORE: Entering the hall at the Institute of Engineers gives one a heady feeling. Visitors are intoxicated with the strong fragrances emanating from the various stalls. After the attack on the olfactory senses, the more subtle fragrances tease the nose. The Festival of Fragrance 2012 was inaugurated at the  Indian Institute of Engineers on Friday. It featured incense sticks, perfumes, fresheners and fragrance products.Sreesh R Babu, organiser of the exhibition, said that the festival was the first independent exhibition hosted by Prakruthi Ads company. The aim of three-day festival was also to spread awareness among people on  traditional Indian products like agarbatti and other herbal products. He said, “Agarbatti in India is generally used for religious purposes. But today it has multiple uses. For example, they can be used in aroma therapy. The therapy can cure minor ailments like cold and headache. The agarbatti industry has not explored this potential and is still a very small market here.”K S N Murthy, chief mentor of Glo Herbals said, “It is a great feeling to participate in the exhibition and interact with people. The idea behind putting up this stall is to spread awareness among people about herbal products and also to  look for a good franchise in the city.”About 13 stalls have been put up by participants from different parts of the country to showcase the unique products manufactured in their respective states. Glo herbals, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (Mysore Sandal) among others participated in the exhibition. Aromatic body pack, chemical-free skin care powders, sandalwood oil, almond oil  and Mysore Sandal Agarbattis among other products were available at the exhibition.
