CHENNAI: A division bench comprising Justices D Murugesan and KK Sasidharan on Friday posted before some other bench, a PIL challenging the GO dated July 28 this year of the Home Department, which constituted Anti-Land Grabbing Special Cells in the State. The special cells will be manned by 410 police personnel and it involves an outlay of Rs 27.71 crore. In his petition, DMK Dharmapuri District Lok Sabha member R Thamaraiselvan contended that the GO was illegal and unconstitutional and opposed to public policy. Thousands of cases had been registered on false complaints by the cells, mostly against DMK cadre and leaders. Arrests were being made even without finding out the genuineness or authenticity of the complaints. The GO was issued in utter violation of the provisions of various enactments/Acts defining procedures to get back the properties through civil courts, he further contended.
