HYDERABAD: Questioning the rationale behind the state government's move to pay compensation to those acquitted in the Mecca Masjid blast case and to those who were allegedly tortured, the Bharatiya Janata Party wonders whether similar compensations would be given to RSS and Bajrang Dal activists and all others who have been acquitted by courts.“Providing compensation is a grave mistake being made by the government and they are laying a foundation for unlawful decisions for its own political purposes. The decision to compensate them is borne out of the nexus between the government and the MIM and the vote-bank politics of the Congress,” state BJP general secretary N Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Monday.Strongly opposing the government's move, the BJP leader said they would fight it out legally and a writ petition had already been filed in the High Court. He said the government had committed a serious mistake by agreeing to all the recommendations of the National Minority Commission and releasing Rs 70 lakh towards compensation.“Those who got compensations were not connected with the Mecca Masjid blast but were involved in several other cases,” he alleged. The BJP leader sought to know whether compensations on similar lines would be given to the RSS and Bajrang Dal activists acquitted by courts.“Is the government ready to pay compensation to all those who have been acquitted in various cases?” he asked.
