New Delhi: What happened in a small town in Kerala on Sunday perhaps best explains the saying 'children have impressionable minds'.

An eight year-old boy from Vaikom died while trying to imitate the hanging of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein — the visuals of which he had seen on television — before his sister.

Vishnu Sasi met with the tragic end when he was trying to show his five year-old sister how Saddam was hanged. Sources said while enacting the hanging, Vishnu stood on a water tank, tied a plastic cord around his neck and hooked it to the wall in the bathroom.

His mother had been engaged in sewing work in another corner of the house when the incident occurred. After having completed her work, the mother came looking for the kids and found the boy lying dead in the bathroom.

Police suspects that the boy might have slipped from the tank on which he was standing and the rope broke resulting in him falling down.

This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred. In June 2004, nine-year-old Rashmi Roy from Kolkata died while trying to imitate Shaktiman. She got herself entangled in the towel when she was trying to twirl in the air like her favourite screen hero Shaktiman.
